Aerial Instructor Enhancement Program

SOAR Aerial Dance’s Enhancement program is designed for instructors to work on themselves and enables you to efficiently teach your students. This program is more than a teacher training, it is meant to inspire creativity and provide the building blocks needed to become a movement coach. This course can be completed without ever needing an apparatus. All concepts are based around using the body; though any props that you might have such as a chair, table, sling loops and unrigged spansets, or a doorway can be used to mimic the structure of an apparatus.

SOAR’s online Enhancement Program for Aerial instructors is broken down into 5 sections over the course of 6 weeks. You’ll have time to learn and train with your peers while working outside of your comfort zone. We work together virtually in a group setting and one-on-one for you to get the most out of the program. In our last week instructors will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned so that they can have a better understanding of what it means to be a movement coach. You’ll leave this program feeling more intentional about teaching students through creativity.

Who is this program for?

  • Any aerial instructor who is ready to enhance their training
  • Instructors with at least 1 year teaching experience

Comprehensive Aerial Hoop Teacher Training

SOAR Aerial Dance offers our virtual Aerial Hoop teacher training for aerialists and instructors who are ready to dive into the foundation of teaching aerial hoop skills effectively.

Our comprehensive aerial hoop training covers SOAR's Basic, Level 1, and Level 2 skills. We break down each skill and how to teach it with a focus on progressions, spotting techniques, and level appropriate conditioning. We will talk through the incorrect ways to teach certain skills, how to notice when something can go wrong, and ways to troubleshoot issues for you and your students. You'll leave our training with confidence in yourself as an instructor, and a greater understanding of how to meet your students needs.

We meet virtually once per week over the course of 10 weeks. During each three hour session you will directly interact with the apparatus and have the chance to teach to your fellow aerialists. This training’s intention is for you to become a proficient, safe, and creative aerial hoop coach with your students safety and skill development at the forefront of your mind.

Who is this program for?

Open to all aerial instructors and aerialists regardless of discipline. You do NOT need to be an instructor to join this program, though you must have at least 1 solid year of aerial training.

Testimonial

"Gena is an impactful, knowledgeable, and incredibly talented aerialist and instructor! She’s studied Lyra, yoga, and the human body extensively and is always seeking to learn more; she incorporates her knowledge, into her classes and workshops. She is prepared to explain to her students why certain things work and others don’t, the physics behind moves, and what muscles students need to focus on engaging to complete moves safely and with good technique. She is an encouraging yet realistic instructor, helping students work up to skills they want without allowing them to put themselves in a move they aren’t ready for. Gena is loud and spirited, and it lends determination and encouragement to her students. She makes sure students feel welcome and is able to give modifications and progressions, knows when to require a spotter, and is ready to spot for her students. I wholly recommend Gena as an instructor! - Cassidy Slabaugh
